Use ‘storytelling’ so that your texts do not seem like the same old story
I am sure that every day you come across thousands of websites, social media posts or email corrections filled with conventional and boring descriptions.
Texts that say it all, but do not convey any emotion, like the maninstruction manual for a washing machine.
Sometimes they are too direct or technical, which is probably why most of us prefer to call home when we have to deal with a recipe or a delicate garment.
Because it is not the same to read:
- “Use only ⅓ of the capacity of the work and program a short cycle at low temperature” that
- “Wash the sweaters that you give away for Christmas with the pink detergent from the third program, you will see how fluffy and soft they are”.
Well, that’s the theory, but how do we get to the practice?

Calm down, there are very specific writing techniques to apply the narration in any of your texts.
Let’s look at three of them:
• Add questions to your story to generate a reaction. This way, your reader will hear that you are speaking directly to them.
• Use similes to create mental images and that your readers can visualize exactly what you are telling them.
• Replace “I” with “you”, because this is the most persuasive word there is.
